Samantha "Sam" McCall was a fictional character on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital. She is the daughter of the late mob boss Julian Jerome and his attorney Alexis Davis via one night stand, and the illegal adoptive daughter of the late Cody McCall and his late ex-wife Evelyn McCall.
She was portrayed by actress Kelly Monaco from October 1, 2003 to October 30, 2024 before being replaced by Carlo Rota as Jenz Sidwell and a group of unknown actors as Sidwell's men Frank Ryan and DeShawn Smith before the characters ran off and fled, Jens Austin Astrup as Kai Taylor, Jequan Jackson as Quinn, Alexa Havins Bruening as Lulu Spencer, Jeff Kober as Cyrus Renault, Nazneen Contractor as A.D.A. Mildred Turner, Eileen Fogarty as Judge Lois Chann, Virginia Ma as Madison Yeung, and an unknown actor as Nick.
From August 4-13, 2020, the role of Sam was temporarily played by Passions vet Lindsay Hartley while Monaco was out on temporary leave. Hartley returned as Sam from February 3-7, 2022. She filled in for Monaco a third time on January 2, 2024, a fourth time from August 22-23, 2024, and a fifth time on September 16, 2024.
She is best known for her relationships with Quartermaine twin brothers Jason Morgan and Drew Cain before Jason was replaced by Valentin Cassadine, Raquelle Fraser, Brad Cooper, Johann Bauer since their names start with the letter J and ends with the letter N, armed robbers Eric Watson and Harry DeFranco, music producer Linc Brown before his arrest in 2023; the female serial killer who goes by The Hook concealing her face and identity for most of 2022 until New Year's Eve 2023 when it was later revealed to be Heather Webber before her imprisonment, release from prison, and leaving town for Arizona; and later Yuri Tamashevich via second chance before Jason was revealed to be alive in 2024.

On October 31 Halloween, Sam meets Cassandra Pierce as her new cellmate before she found out that Nikolas is alive.
On January 29, 2020; Sam gains Cyrus Renault as her new enemy from Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest who had been transferred from Thompson Penitentiary to Pentonville Penitentiary after the three separate shootouts in revenge for Faison, Shiloh, and Cassandra occurred leaving Sam unharmed along with Franco because Cyrus bores an uncanny resemblance to Faison who Cyrus was also Cassandra's male counterpart.
On May 18, Sam gained her former cellmate Nelle Benson as her stepmother by her father Julian's marriage to Nelle.
On August 11, Sam meets a man named Owen Anderson as Sam's new parole officer and is much friendlier than Dolores Maloney who also shares his disdain of Cyrus Renault.
In 2021, Sam and Dante Falconeri meet up and began to work together after Dante had been replaced by Dolores Maloney and Linc Brown.
In May; Sam found Jason and Britt together, Sam encourages her ex-husband to go back home to Port Charles, and reunite with her; but Jason decided to choose Britt over her.
On November 24, 2021; Sam and Drew are reunited when Sam opens the penthouse door and sees Drew and Sam is in shock on Thanksgiving after Drew deported Yuri Tamashevich for three counts of identity theft and illegal adoption with the help of ICE.In March-April; Sam is saying that Jason Morgan is dangerous as she is likely siding in with Yuri who she thinks is a better father to Danny than Jason. After Australian national Jake Lawson came to Port Charles, Jake was trying to convince her that Jason is not dangerous and he was being used by Pikeman Security Group.
