Background[]

Before Ric was born, his father, Trevor had an affair with Sonny's mother Adela. Adela ended up getting pregnant, and Trevor sent her and Sonny to live in his vacation home located in Martha's Vineyard to prevent from his wife finding out about Adela. While pregnant, Adela accidentally fell down the stairs.

Later on, Trevor told Ric that Sonny had done it because of jealousy. After Ric was born, Trevor tried to make her put Sonny up for adoption, but instead she left with only Sonny. Because of this, Ric blames Sonny for not having his mother in his life. Just prior to arriving in Port Charles, Ric attended Harvard Law School which happened to be the same law school that Judge Albert Kim was at.

Ric has a daughter Molly Lansing-Davis with his ex-wife attorney Alexis Davis. Molly followed in her parent's footsteps and is now the Assistant District Attorney in Port Charles.

Storylines[]

Five months after he arrives in Port Charles, he reveals to Sonny that he is actually his half-brother. After years of a tumultuous relationship with his brother he no longer wants revenge on his brother. Through the years, Ric has constantly wanted to drive a wedge through Sonny and Jason's brotherly relationship. Upon arriving, he flirts with Carly Corinthos as a way of getting to Sonny. He soon dates Elizabeth Webber, whom he marries in 2003.

In 2007, Ric knew that Jerry Jacks and his men and women including Lorenzo Alcazar, Franco and Liesl Obrecht were involved in a hostage crisis because Ric was the District Attorney because Ric's job was to arrest criminals and villains while he had commissioner Mac Scorpio, Mayor Garrett Floyd, and the S.W.A.T. team with him as Diane Miller who came to Port Charles was scared along with Sonny's children Michael, Morgan, and Kristina making Ric as the hostage negotiator. The aftermath left Sonny injured, Diane and Ric worried sick along with Sonny's children as Port Charles Mayor Floyd was interviewed by the press and leading security at Metro Court Hotel to be tightened afterwards. Three months later, Jake Spencer was born the same day that Kate Howard walked into Sonny Corinthos' office unannounced and demanded the use of a phone because her car had broken down.

On February 24, 2014; Ric returns to Port Charles showing up at Alexis' home where Rafe is watching Danny. It is revealed that Ric and Alexis have shared custody of Molly since Ric knew Diane Miller from the start. He resumes a connection with his ex-wife Elizabeth and the two begin dating. In May, Julian Jerome told the police that Ric was his boss when in fact Ric was being framed. On June 12, Ric and Anna fake his death in order to smoke out Julian's real boss.

Ric also gets a vision of his brother's longtime friend Robin Scorpio-Drake and says that she's held hostage and against her will by his brother Sonny's enemies in a conspiracy like Jerry Jacks, Paul Hornsby, Ava Jerome, and Johnny Zacchara.

After Jerry Jacks was sentenced to life in prison in Pentonville Penitentiary for his crimes against Robin and the citizens of Port Charles, Ric and his family and friends became happy, so did his client Shawn Butler. That forced Diane Miller to believe that Jerry Jacks was back and move away from Port Charles to Los Angeles on December 22, 2015. The aftermath allowed Ric bring in Shawn's release.

Ric and his daughter Molly in civil court

Ric with his daughter Molly in civil court suing Mayor Janice Lomax

When everyone got held hostage at the All Saints Chapel that night including his brother Sonny by Landon Dixon who he would've made Kyle Sloane and Helena Cassadine very happy if they were alive, Ric was not surprised about what happened that night and neither was his client Shawn. As a result; he, his brother Sonny, his daughter Molly, and the others who were involved filed a lawsuit against Mayor Janice Lomax in civil court because she committed complicity violated everybody's rights. Not even Mayor Lomax could declare the entire city in the state of emergency because she failed to do so and was revealed that Mayor Lomax who violated everybody's rights except T.J. Ashford, it left him unharmed along with former Head Nurse Epiphany Johnson resulting them testifying on Morgan's behalf in civil court because they were nowhere near the site revealing that Ric is an advocate for the American Civil Liberties Union because T.J. nor Epiphany were nowhere near the site.

In early 2017, Ric found out from Jason and Curtis that Olivia Jerome is alive and has abducted his client Robin. He also found out that Sonny had been framed by Olivia Jerome in covering her tracks. He was happy that Sonny had been exonerated. After Olivia's arrest, he found out that her attorney was Nora Buchanan out of Llanview sometime after meeting her before the family court case of Sonny's step-granddaughter Charlotte with Judge Walters' female counterpart Judge Natalie Rawles as David was absent from the family court case. After Judge Horace Sanchez sentenced her to a mental asylum, it was over. One week later, an armed robbery at the Floating Rib took place by Chris and Paul Gentry wanting revenge for the imprisoned Olivia Jerome. After it was over, he became the victims' clients with the help of his associates from the East and West Coasts temporarily while Henry Sullivan is representing Chris and Paul Gentry just like Nora Buchanan representing Olivia Jerome as the brother Chris and Paul are revealed that they're both fit to stand trial unlike Olivia Jerome. The brothers were given life in prison without parole.

Ric with no phone service

Ric with no phone service after the earthquake hit

In March 2018, an earthquake hits Port Charles one month after the deaths of Cesar Faison and Nathan West. He heard sirens after the quake and he can't call his clients, family, nor Diane who is living in Los Angeles as his daughter Molly who suffered a broken rib after being pinned down by some rubble during an earthquake because the phone lines are dead. He went to General Hospital with Shawn, T.J., and Molly.

In May 2019, he attends the Nurses' Ball along with his family and friends.

In June 2019, he comes in contact with Shiloh and his foreign attorney Zahra Amir in the family court case after the Nurses' Ball.

On January 2, 2020; Ric walks Jason out the door because Sam's parole officer was Dolores Maloney.

In February 2020, Ric was not surprised after the three shootouts occurred in revenge for Faison, Shiloh, and Cassandra Pierce as he, Sonny, Jason, and Sam gained a new enemy named Cyrus Renault who bores an uncanny resemblance to Cesar Faison. They know that he operated in Seattle in the Pacific Northwest.

On April 6, Ric calls Sonny on the phone saying that Cyrus Renault was being released from Pentonville Penitentiary with a full exoneration making parole officer Dolores Maloney and music producer Linc Brown happy. After Cyrus was released from prison, Cyrus' friend and former cellmate Paul Hornsby was left all alone until Brad Cooper became Paul's new cellmate.

On May 5; Ric heard that Diane has traveled to Seattle from Los Angeles for a meeting with Cyrus Renault's former attorneys. Cyrus' former attorneys are Mallory Gentry, Dean Murdock, Jeffrey Nash, and Hank Smith.

On May 11, Ric and his family are at family court hearing of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos as the attorney for the Corinthos family with judge Richard Lowe presiding the case after Ric met Nelle's attorney Martin Grey. Ric was even surprised that Nelle married Sam's father Julian Jerome.

On June 4; Ric became happy that Cyrus Renault was arrested along with Jason, Carly, Sam, Britt, Liesl, and Dante. Afterwards, he meets Cyrus' children Andrew and Liz Renault before they changed their surnames to Grey to honor the family name.

On November 19, Ric became devastated that Jason is dead on Cassadine Island after a tunnel collapse.

On March 21, 2022; Ric's cilent Shawn moved to San Francisco.

In May 2022, Ric got word that Diane was back in Port Charles spending time with her children Sally and Keith.

On September 26, Ric began his own investigation to figure out what the person's identity is since the person goes by The Hook whose face and identity are concealed. Joining Ric on the investigation is fellow attorney Martin Grey knowing if Jason Morgan were around, Ric found out that Jason would go after and confront "The Hook". Ric and Martin are working through the article on The Invader and the photographs. They even wrote down names to figure out the identity. Diane's children Keith and Sally, and his own daughter Molly are helping Ric and Martin on the investigation on who attacked Diane since there were no leads after Molly became an intern at the district attorney's office.

Ric and the others narrowed down the gender of the attacker which was a woman after Diane was able to identify the gender of the attacker.

After Diane went back to Los Angeles, Ric meets Diane's children Keith and Sally for the first time after Alexis identified The Hook as Heather Webber who is best known to conceal her face and identity for most of 2022 after the nightmare of Ryan Chamberlain and Heather Webber aka "The Hook" is over before the death of Epiphany Johnson.

After Epiphany's memorial service, Ric Lansing is knowing about the upcoming Nurses' Ball with Linc Brown attending just like Cyrus did three years prior to it before Linc's arrest by his nephew Dante Falconeri after revealing that Linc Brown had an alibi for The Hook attacks.

On September 11, Ric defends Sonny with the presiding judge Ron Jarrett present who is likely friends with J.B. Brown in and out of the courtroom just like Brown is friends with Judge Albert Kim while his daughter Molly is recused from the case when it came to Sonny because Molly needed to spend time with T.J., Keith, and Sally since Judge Jarrett was wanting to avenge former judge Naomi Carson just like Albert Kim did.

On October 13, Ric gains Nina Reeves as his sister-in-law at the same time that Cyrus Renault was released from prison. He, Molly, Carly, and Sonny confounded Cyrus that he is the mysterious boss that Mason Gatlin is working for.

On March 4, 2024; Ric finds out that Jason is alive.

On August 22, Ric attends Irene's funeral at the All Saints Chapel where the crime occurred at Alexis and Julian's wedding eight years earlier.

On September 6, Ric mentioned FBI John Cates who was targeting his brother Sonny and his family while speaking to Harrison Chase.
