Michael Corinthos is a fictional character on General Hospital.

Casting[]

Born onscreen on December 29, 1997; Michael has been portrayed by:

Twin actors Dylan and Blake Hopkins were the first children to play Michael Corinthos on General Hospital beginning in 1997. After starting in the role as babies they continued through until 2001 when the role was aged. As they grew up on the show they began talking and often could be heard asking where their brother was during scenes.

Tiarnan Cunningham took over the role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital in 2001 when the character was aged. During his short time on the show which ended in early 2002, Tiarnan worked with two different Carly's as his mother, Sarah Joy Brown and Tamara Braun.

On March 28, 2002; Dylan Cash made his first appearance as Michael, aging the character and revising his birth year to 1995.

After three years with the series, Cash signed a contract in April 2005.

In March 2008; rumors began circulating that Cash's contract was about to expire and would not be renewed, and by April several sources confirmed the fact.

BuddyTV reported that Cash was blindsided by his firing, and confirmed the series was considering aging the character.

It was also rumored that ABC was considering As the World Turns', Jesse Lee Soffer for the role.

Cash made his last appearance as a contract cast member on May 16, 2008, briefly reprising the role for one episode on December 29, 2008.

"You'd think growing up as the son of a mobster would mean violence wasn't a big deal, but a stray bullet (meant for his dad) sent Michael into a coma that changed his life, and his family, forever. After a year asleep - and a subsequent stint in prison - Michael is no longer the sweet little boy everyone remembers."
During his six years with General Hospital, Cash earned numerous awards, including a 2003 Young Artist Award in the Best Performance in a TV Series by a Young Actor Ten or Younger category.

On November 23, 2024; Duell announced on Instagram that he is leaving GH as Michael after playing the character for 14 years. His last airdate is likely sometime in January 2025; but he says they left the door open for his return as he will be replaced by Kristen Vaganos as Molly Lansing-Davis, Carlo Rota as Jenz Sidwell, Lydia Look as Selina Wu, William Dixon as Paul Ferner for a one-time appearance, James Patrick Stuart as Valentin Cassadine, Carolyn Hennesy as Diane Miller, Chris L. McKenna as Jack Brennan recast and Mercedes Lopez Renard as Colette Moreau on February 4, Jeff Kober as Cyrus Renault before the character's death and Parry Shen as Brad Cooper on February 5, Andrew Liberty as Gavin Boyle on February 7 as a one-time character, Judy Kain as Elaine Stevens on February 13 for a two-time appearance as a short return, Charlie Besso as Tobias on February 18, and Nazneen Contractor as Justine Turner on February 25 for a two-time appearance as a short return before returning on April 2, Bryce Durfee as Stone Vaughn on March 7; Cyrus Hobbi as Yuri Tamashevich before the character went offscreen on April 16, 2025; Jeff Wolfe as Mark Soliski before the character's death and Jeffery Thomas Johnson as Sheriff Grant Lewis before the character went offscreen on March 28-31 as two-time characters.

Greg Kinnear
Later on, actor Greg Kinnear will be portraying as Michael 25-30 years later in General Hospital Beyond.

Storylines[]

Michael was born 4 weeks early on December 29, 1997; after Carly starts bleeding due to a placental abruption and collapses. Jason finds her and rushes her to the hospital, where she has an emergency C-section. When his mother starts to show symptoms of PPD, she leaves him with Jason Morgan, who names him Michael after Sonny Corinthos (the man who would eventually become his father). Tony later kidnaps Michael after finding out that Michael isn't his son but Michael is eventually rescued by Jason. When Tony was put trial for the kidnapping, Carly shoots him and Michael and Carly are once again separated. When Carly returns, she discovers Robin Scorpio and Jason taking care of Michael and soon sets out to destroy the relationship which leads Robin to tell A.J. that he's Michael's biological father. Carly marries A.J., who threatens to take Michael if she ever disobeys his orders.

In late January 2007; he and his siblings Morgan and Kristina became scared of former Port Charles resident Jerry Jacks aka James Craig along with Diane Miller, his uncle Ric Lansing who is the District Attorney as well as the hostage negotiator, as well as the other residents of Port Charles including his infant cousin Molly after A.J.'s death as they're seeing it on the news. The aftermath left him and his siblings traumatized along with his infant cousin Molly, but unharmed as Mayor Garrett Floyd was being interviewed by the press about former Port Charles resident Jerry Jacks and his accomplices as they were being arrested and lawyered up except Lorenzo Alcazar who escaped the scene of the crime to avoid capture and many people sustained injures in the rubble from the explosion in the lobby in February as a S.W.A.T. team is there. Security at Metro Court Hotel was later tightened to take more security measures. Less than three months later, Elizabeth's son Jake Spencer was born.

In November 2017, Michael was at an awards ceremony to see his father Sonny be given a Medal of Valor award by Commissioner Jordan Ashford for saving everybody's lives at the Metro Court Hotel including his biological grandmother Monica Quartermaine against two of Cesar Faison's men who were sentenced to life in prison by Judge Natalie Rawles.

On January 29; Michael, Sasha, Josslyn and Laura were caught in a shootout on the pier. Michael was the target but Laura got shot and was collateral damage. Eventually, Dustin Phillips showed up and fought the gunmen off. The gunmen who were sent there that did the collateral damage was Cyrus Renault from Seattle, Washington who was had been transferred from Thompson Penitentiary in the Pacific Northwest to Pentonville Penitentiary in Port Charles and bores an uncanny resemblance to the late Cesar Faison as Sam's parole officer Dolores Maloney denied any involvement.

On April 1, Michael is unable to attend the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center coinciding with the hospital's 62nd anniversary to honor his grandmother due to him being hospitalized in Germany.
