Casting[]
On May 3, 2018; it was announced that former Y&R alum Elizabeth Hendrickson who has been previously Daytime Emmy-nominated, will begin her GH run as a prosecutor in Carly’s (Laura Wright) case replacing Richard Burgi (Paul Hornsby) after the character's imprisonment, Shari Belafonte (Janice Lomax) after the character's resignation as mayor, Ryan Paevey (Nathan West) and Anders Hove (Cesar Faison) after the characters' deaths. Fans have been very excited about the addition of Hendrickson to the ABC daytime drama series, because she will be reunited with many of her former castmates from All My Children and Young & the Restless, including Billy Miller (Drew), William deVry (Julian), and more including Wally Kurth (Ned) as her onscreen male counterpart as Mayor.
She made her first appearance on May 29, 2018.
Shelly Altman, co-head writer of General Hospital, told Soap Opera Digest, "Margaux doesn't believe that Carly was insane, and of course, she's right. She doesn't like anyone using the court to their advantage in this way."
On August 14, 2018; Executive Producer Frank Valentini was interviewed by Michael Fairman. He revealed he brought on Elizabeth Hendrickson (Margaux) as a potential love interest for Drew. He said "I knew her work from All My Children and The Young and the Restless, and she is a phenomenal actress and we are really lucky to have her. Margaux has got the flash drive with Drew’s memories on it and that is an important piece of information to have."
On June 6, 2019; Hendrickson confirmed on her Instagram page that she is leaving GH. She made her last appearance on June 18, 2019 before and after being replaced by Jonathan Stanley (Billy) before being replaced by Marcus Coloma (Nikolas) when the character was revealed to be alive, Michael E. Knight (Martin), Nawal Bengholam (Roz), and later Andi Chapman (Dolores) in the beginning of 2020.
Background[]
Margaux Dawson is the new District Attorney in Port Charles. Like her predecessors at the DA's office including Paul Hornsby who is in prison for being the General Hospital serial killer, she is determined to convict Sonny Corinthos and his organization for all of their crimes and make her male counterpart Mayor Ned Quartermaine proud as well as former Mayor Janice Lomax after her resignation after her prosecution of Frank Anderson and Greg Barnes who were revealed to be Cesar Faison's men and the judge in the case was Natalie Rawles who sentenced two of Faison's men to life in prison at Pentonville Penitentiary.
Margaux has met Drew Cain, and as of July 24, she is in possession of the missing drive containing all of his memories after the deaths of Cesar Faison and Nathan West. On August 17, they shared their first kiss at Charlie's. Soon afterwards they begin dating.
Margaux seems familiar to Dr. Kim Nero, like she has seen her before.
On August 21; it's revealed that Margaux was born as Margaux Marino, her father wasn't around in her early life as he left her and her mother when she was two years old. She grew up in Princeton, New Jersey and entered in middle class, public schools and was at the top of her class. She joined NYU and soon she enrolled herself in law school at Stanford law and graduated with honors. After law school she worked as assistant DA in Oakland, California which is near San Francisco. Two years later, she was appointed as the new DA of Port Charles either hired by Mayor Janice Lomax or Mayor Ned Quartermaine.
In September 11, 2018; it's revealed that Margaux's father was somehow involved in the mob and he was killed because of it. In September 21, it's revealed that thirty years ago her father Vincent Marino was Joe Scully's criminal defense lawyer and that he was killed by Sonny before being buried in Croton under orders from Joe. Unbeknown to Sonny at the time Vincent's corpse was unearthed by his father Mike Corbin so it would be reburied underneath Charlie's Pub during it's construction.
She had one brief marriage to David Dawson that ended after a year since she felt he had a lack of imagination as he only wanted to maintain the status quo while she wanted more so they parted as friends and she is still using his name to this day.
On April 1, 2019; Margaux revealed to Nora Buchanan that she has ties to Pine Valley.
Storylines[]
Margaux Dawson is the new District Attorney in Port Charles who was hired by either Janice Lomax who resigned from her position as mayor or Margaux's male counterpart Ned Quartermaine who was recently elected mayor of Port Charles after her predecessor Paul Hornsby was sent to prison of being the General Hospital serial killer after she prosecuted Frank Anderson and Greg Barnes for the crime at the Metro Court Hotel with her friend judge Natalie Rawles present as Natalie sentenced Frank and Greg to life in prison without parole at Pentonville Penitentiary where the aftermath of the event left Nathan West unharmed because the two men were revealed to be Cesar Faison's men. She represented Nelle Benson in her case for pressing charges against Carly Corinthos to make Carly a target for Heather Webber after the deaths of Nathan West and Cesar Faison respectively which triggered the earthquake one month later. Apparently, filling in the void the late Nathan West left behind. In early June, Margaux took residence at Nelle's male counterpart Peter August's former room at the Metro Court after her new friend Valentin Cassadine helped escape from jail. On June 25, she found Sam McCall and Curtis Ashford searching in her room for evidence leading to Peter, later she shared her concern to Commissioner Jordan Ashford about the PCPD hiring Ashford and McCall P.I. firm, especially when Sam is a known associate of Jason Morgan and Sonny Corinthos.
On July 17, Margaux met Drew Cain and on July 24, she found the missing drive containing all of his memories in the lost and found box at the Metro court. In early August, thanks to Jason, Margaux was given all the evidence needed to exonerate Carly and to convict Nelle for her numerous crimes; particularly killing her ex fiancé Zachary Grant before she came to town, framing Carly, and recently attempting to have her thought-to-be husband Michael murdered to have revenge for Heather who is in D'Archum Asylum. She continues to bond well with Drew, without him having any knowledge that she has the key to his past. On August 17, at Charlie's, after Drew refused to help Margaux in her plot to take down Sonny, she kissed him before she walked out. Drew followed her and questioned her about the kiss. After back and forth arguments, they confessed that they are attracted to each other and they agreed on a date.
In August 2018, Margaux was unable to prosecute Michael Carson and Shawn Phillips who were arrested and taken into custody by the New York State Police for abduction of Anna Devane and Hamilton Finn as Margaux's new enemy Cassandra Pierce disappeared without a trace as she was abducted by an unknown man because they're out of her jurisdiction.
In 2019, she was unable to attend the Nurses' Ball because she was busy. She later resigned as District Attorney of Port Charles a year and a half later after Janice Lomax resigned as Mayor of Port Charles.
On June 18, 2019; ran into Drew at the hospital and told him she was leaving town and apologized for using him in her efforts to take down Sonny. Drew forgave her and they had a nice talk, even confessing that they enjoyed each other's company. Eventually Margaux asked Drew about his time with Shiloh (who went by Hank back then) in Afghanistan and Drew told her that Shiloh claimed that he saved his life and since then Shiloh changed but it was clear that he was also interested in his memories. Drew thanked her for the head's up and they parted ways on good terms.
Margaux left town the same day that Sherri Anderson appeared before the arrival of Martin Grey three months later, then Roz Venta came to Port Charles as a new attorney a month later, and Ned's daughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine returned a month after that after the unknown man was revealed to be Nikolas Cassadine alive and well who abducted Cassandra Pierce before her presumed death by the boat explosion later resulting in two of Cassandra's henchmen being arrested and later imprisoned.
She is currently living in Seattle, Washington where Cyrus Renault was before his transfer to Pentonville Penitentiary in 2020 since Cyrus bore an uncanny resemblance to the late Cesar Faison in which Margaux would not have liked had she stayed in Port Charles and met him which would remind her of Shiloh after Nikolas Cassadine announced at Wyndemere Castle that he is alive and well.
