Storylines[]
In the summer of 1976, the scheming 19-year-old Heather Grant is hired by Nurse Diana Taylor as the nanny of her young daughter, Martha. Coming from a lower class family, Heather got what she wanted by cheating. Desperately wanting the job, Heather gave Diana a forged letter of recommendation. She soon sets her sights on Dr. Monica Webber's husband, Jeff. After Jeff and Monica have a fight, Heather comforts him and they end up sleeping together. When Jeff suddenly disappears, Heather learns she is pregnant. After Jeff attempts suicide, he is shocked to learn Heather is pregnant. Heather fakes a suicide attempt hoping to win Jeff's affections. However, because Jeff refused to leave Monica, Heather decided she didn't want the child. She confides in her mother, Alice, her plans. Instead of aborting her child at Jeff's request, she sells the newborn to Diana and her husband, Peter for $10,000.
In 1977; after giving birth to Steven Lars, Heather takes $500 from Jeff and goes to New York City in hopes of becoming a famous model. Her landlady, Mrs. Hadley arranges for the Taylor family to adopt her son while concealing Heather's identity from the Taylors. However, after Mrs. Hadley and a lawyer take their cut, Heather is only left with $1,800 of the $10,000. Instead of coming clean, Heather tells Jeff the baby was stillborn. To make up for her loss, Jeff proposes marriage. The two return to Port Charles where Heather begins spending a lot of time with the Taylors' new son, Peter "PJ" Taylor Jr, who is actually her son. In 1978, Heather gets a little carried away with the amount of attention she gives to PJ. The Taylors let her go believing her obsession is unhealthy. Heather continues seeing her son in secret. Meanwhile, Heather and Jeff finally marry but they see very little of each other, as Jeff is working long hours to get his medical license. Though Heather learns she is pregnant again, she is still miserable. Ironically, Jeff wants to name their new child "Steven Lars" if it's a boy. Heather, however, lost the baby due to hemorrhaging and after having a D&C, she was warned not to have another child as it would be dangerous.21 years later in June of 2004, Heather returned to Port Charles claiming she wanted to reconnect with her family. She moves into the Spencer home with Lesley to help take care of Lulu while her parents, Luke and Laura were absent. However, Heather was up to her old schemes once again. She began seducing the recently widowed, Edward Quartermaine, much to the dismay of his daughter Tracy. When Edward started being haunted by his late wife, Lila, Heather started keeping her distance.
Heather survives the fall, but is injured severely. Patrick Drake has her immediately taken to surgery due to her spinal cord damage and says that Heather is a crazy woman according to him everybody else in Port Charles, because she and Elizabeth aren't related to each other. Monica later tells Jason that Heather is in a coma after the surgery. In November, after couple of months in the hospital, she escapes. She goes to the Kelly's diner and Olivia has another hallucination and sees Heather, which she does because the woman that sees is Heather in a black wig who completely disguised herself as Sonny's lawyer Alexis Davis. She then goes to the Quartermaine mansion and sneaks into the living room. She finds the living will and testament of recently deceased Edward and messes with it. She holds Skye hostage with a knife until Alice knocks her out. She is taken back to Ferncliff. She repeats "I know something the Quartermaines don't know" over and over while the Quartermaines receive a pile of pizza boxes.
In August 2016, three months after attacking Lucas and failing to attack Bobbie at the Nurse's Ball, Heather was revealed to have been imprisoned at D'archam Asylum and tells Franco that his female counterpart Hayden Barnes was Jeff's illegitimate daughter with Naomi Dreyfus, thus making her Elizabeth's sister before being replaced by her younger counterpart Nelle Benson. Over a year later, the crime at the Metro Court Hotel occurred by Cesar Faison's men who were in revenge for Faison which left Mayor Janice Lomax outraged in the aftermath before appearing at Charlie's Pub for the Charles Street redevelopment project nearly two months later before she resigned as Mayor which resulted in Jim Harvey of Niagara Equities arriving to Port Charles before Faison's return which resulted in the deaths of Cesar Faison and Nathan West because of Jim's collusion with Faison which triggered the earthquake one month later which Nathan would never survive.
On February 25, 2021; a guard at the hospital reads to paralyzed Ryan a letter from "Heather W.", his biggest fan months after the death of Nelle Benson and Margaux Dawson resigned as district attorney and moved to Seattle; Carly's torture at Ferncliff Asylum by Heather's friends Mary Pat Ingles, Rupert Watson, and Kurt Lasaris; and the death of Mary Pat Ingles.
On March 9; Heather's son Franco was shot and killed by Peter August, the son of the late Cesar Faison and the late Alex Devane in revenge for Nelle Benson with the help of Cyrus Renault of the Renault Organization from the Pacific Northwest. Her son Franco never got the chance to meet his niece and her great niece Violet Finn. Jason was arrested because Jason was framed by Peter with the help from Cyrus in revenge for Faison, Hank Archer aka Shiloh, Cassandra Pierce, Nelle Benson, and Sam's former parole officer Dolores Maloney. One month later after his death, Franco was replaced by Yuri Tamashevich from Belarus who became a bodyguard, the Head or Security at ELQ International; and assumed the identities of Drew Cain, Jason Morgan, and Franco Baldwin as well as adopting Danny, Scout, and Jake illegally months after the death of Nelle all while her daughter-in-law Hayden Barnes is nowhere to be found and was later revealed that she was presumably kidnapped by Victor Cassadine and replaced by Ryan Chamberlain's daughter and Victor's associate/henchwoman Esme Prince before Drew's return and Yuri's deportation by ICE.
On April 15, 2022 one day after the armed robbery at Charlie's Pub by Eric Watson and Harry DeFranco who were wanting revenge for Peter August nearly two months after Peter's death; Harrison Chase told Elizabeth, who has a stalker, that Heather is still in D'Archam and hasn't had any visitors since 2018 before and after Jason's death on Cassadine Island and replaced by Johann Bauer, Oz Haggerty, and the unnamed female serial killer who goes by The Hook. Heather denied any involvement of complicity of armed robbery after the imprisonment of Cyrus Renault who bores an uncanny resemblance to the late Cesar Faison.
On October 28, Heather returns as she came to General Hospital after the attacks from The Hook whose face and identity are concealed and is a woman after Esme Prince is locked in an en suite bathroom by Nikolas and replaced by Victor and Johann as Olivia has a bad feeling while at GH and turns around to see Heather being escorted by a guard and an orderly while wearing a prison uniform. Heather yells at Olivia about her son being in prison and makes jokes about LSD while Harrison Chase is on suspension.
On November 8 while being sent back to D'Archam with Anna who is headed to Pentonville, the prison transport van crashes and Heather escapes. She is caught when she stops at Kelly's for a BLT. The assistant manager and her step-grandson Cameron calls the police and Dante arrests her.
On December 9; it was revealed that Heather had a relationship with Ryan Chamberlain under their aliases "Hazel" and "Richard", when they conceived their daughter Esme Prince, whom Heather gave up for adoption. Years later Ryan found out about their daughter's existence and later confronted Heather about her leaving him and giving their daughter for adoption. Heather is unaware that she's about to become a grandmother to Esme's unborn child from Esme's one-night stand with her former boyfriend Spencer Cassadine's father Nikolas Cassadine and Heather's sons Steve and Franco are Esme's maternal half-brothers. Esme was secretly being lock up in a storage room in the North Tower of Wyndemere by Nikolas with the help of Elizabeth as Esme's nurse. Nikolas plans to send Esme to Cassadine Island after she gives birth. Unfortunately, on New Years Eve 2022, her daughter Esme set fire to the storage room in order to escape Nikolas, then she intentionally falls off the parapet into the ocean. Esme and her unborn baby were found by Spencer and Trina Robinson at the Haunted Star and was taken to the Hospital, where she was found to have hypothermia. Later, Ryan informed Heather about their daughter's pregnancy and Heather became excited as this is her first grandchild for her, because both Steven Lars and Franco didn't have children. Also, she wanted to be there for Esme as she gave birth. Ryan told her that it would not be impossible for her. Ryan and Heather were unaware that Esme suffered memory loss after falling into the ocean. They started to begin plans for themselves, Esme, the baby and possibly Ava, in Ryan's case.
On January 17, 2023; Heather finally meets her daughter Esme, when she arrives in Spring Ridge after she was remanded there after losing her sons Steve and Franco revealing that Esme has two maternal half-brothers. On January 18, Heather meets with Esme to speak to her about her current situation, which includes her memory loss, her pregnancy, and warning her to staying away from Ryan, which Esme later freak out and she left the common room, not before leaving behind her friendship bracelet. On January 23, Heather saves Esme after she was threatened by another inmate named Ramona in the common room by put a shank up to her side. Esme feels her baby kick, and Heather asks if she can feel it. Esme suggests maybe when they know each other better. Heather knows Esme's scared about being a mother, but she'll be a natural. Esme still doesn't know how given she's going to prison. Heather assures her that very soon the cops will know she couldn't be the hook killer. Later, Dante and Sam McCall visited Esme to speak to her about her old nanny Maggie. Sam explains she's been looking into her background and believes she isn't the hook. Esme thanks her but doesn't remember anything about her past. Sam believes there is someone who does and fills her in on her old nanny Maggie, and that her biological father might be in New York state. Sam offers to try and find him for her. Esme admits she has no money to pay, but Sam is willing to do this free of charge as it will help many of her friends. Esme answers, "Let's do it." Dante and Heather find Esme and Sam talking together. Esme reveals that Sam believes her father is in the state and is going to try and track him down, leaving Heather stunned.
On February 2, when Heather grabs the papers Esme is looking over and reads them. She is stunned they are custody papers and asks where she got them. Esme explains from Nikolas, the baby's father. Heather is aghast and warns that the Cassadines are ruthless, and she must think carefully about signing her rights away. Esme believes Nikolas when he said this is only temporary until she gets out. Ryan is wheeled in as Heather warns Esme that men lie, all the time. Esme notices Ryan and thinks he is Kevin and gasps, "What happened to Dr. Collins?" Heather explains it's Kevin’s dangerous twin Ryan, and that he's locked in. Heather asks Esme again about the baby and why she's so eager to give it up. Esme admits she isn't, and this baby is the only thing she has. She also knows with this child, she's not alone. Heather tells her that’s why she can’t give up this baby. Esme promises not to make any decisions until tomorrow. Heather excuses herself to speak to Ryan and is furious with him as she assumes he knew about Nikolas and didn't tell her. She says Nikolas is after their grandchild, and the cops are onto him. She explains Dante and Sam were here and are looking for Esme's nanny. She assumes this nanny knows of Ryan by the look in his eyes, so it’s time they bust out and take Esme with them.
After the final showdown at Wyndemere, Esme learns that Ryan and Heather were her biological parents before the death of Ryan and Heather's arrest for being the Hook killer. Esme gave birth to a boy in Wyndemere Castle with the help of his paternal grandmother Mayor Laura Collins, maternal great uncle Dr. Kevin Collins, and paramedics while Nikolas is presumed dead prior to the baby birth.
On February 27 while in the hospital; Esme named her son Ace, a name that she used to call the baby when she was still pregnant pre-amnesia. This could be a sign that her memory is returning. Shortly after, Heather visits her, in cuffs and with a police escort - having arranged the meeting in exchange for a full confession to The Hook's crimes. Esme adamantly denies her right to see her grandchild and disowns her as a mother. Heather is dragged out ranting and raving, blaming Laura for turning Esme against her and she was taken back to D'Archam Asylum.
On March 16, Heather who is back at D'Archam sends her daughter Esme Prince a letter at Spring Ridge. Esme screams and throws the letter when she sees it. She reluctantly opens the envelope and reads the letter.
On July 20 two months after the death of her grandson Ace's great-great uncle Victor Cassadine and a month half after the will reading of Victor Cassadine, Heather sees her daughter Esme talking to Cyrus Renault who bores an uncanny resemblance to the late Cesar Faison after Heather has been transferred to Pentonville Penitentiary revealing that Heather is given life in prison without parole by Judge Aaron Benjamin.
Heather was visited by her daughter Esme who got her memory back who later talked about Ace. Then Mayor Laura Collins talked about Ace before they found out that Esme is dead.
On February 7 after the memorial service of Spencer Cassadine is over, Heather visits the Woodlawn Cemetery and gets an emotional breakdown after she found out that Esme is dead while the female guard is watching her.
On March 12, Heather was visited by Laura in the hospital room at General Hospital about Ace as Laura and Kevin are about to adopt Ace after Laura reached out to district attorney Robert Scorpio revealing that Heather won't be going back to Pentonville Penitentiary nor D'Archum Asylum as Heather is being transferred to San Quentin Women's Federal Penitentiary in California located north of San Francisco.
Her transfer to San Quentin Women's Federal Penitentiary in California located north of San Francisco was denied and Heather remains in Pentonville.
On September 18, Heather and Ric Lansing meet in the visitors room at Pentonville Penitentiary and her appeal was denied. After that, Heather becomes Alexis Davis' cellmate after the death of FBI Special Agent John Cates (previously Jagger Cates).
On October 22, Heather's sentence is vacated by Judge Caleb Orvis as she'll be getting released from Pentonville as a free woman. Two days later, Heather was released from prison as a free woman and is reunited with her son Steve Webber who had just came into Port Charles.
On October 28; Heather left with her son Steve for Sedona, Arizona.Crimes Committed[]
