Nurse Felix DuBois, RN is a fictional character on General Hospital.
He has been portrayed by actor Marc Samuel since the character's debut December 4, 2012.
The late Sabrina Santiago was his best friend until her death by Paul Hornsby and later since replaced by Valentin Cassadine afterwards before leaving town and disappearing six months later on July 17, 2024 and later replaced by warlord Jenz Sidwell.
In 2019, Samuel indicated Felix got his last name from Toussaint Dubois, a character on General Hospital: Night Shift. Samuel also liked a fan's reply to his tweet that said it was cool that Felix was related to Toussaint. The show itself has never made a direct reference to the possible familial relation between the two characters.
Casting[]
The casting was announced in November 2012, with Samuel's first airdate slated for December 4, 2012.
Samuel made his debut as a contract cast member. Samuel revealed to Windy City Times that his management team set him up to audition with casting director Mark Teschner.
Samuel was then brought back for a screen test with Teresa Castillo, and they offered him the role a few days later.
What appealed to Samuel the most was that Felix was such a "diverse character," and immediately sounded like "fun."
Samuel defended the controversial character and insisted that Felix is not a "stereotype" or a "caricature," but he a "human being." Samuel described Felix as "campy, extra fierce," and at times he can be the "tough guy," when he feels the need to protect his loved ones.
The inspiration for his portrayal of Felix comes from some of Samuel's friends. Felix will "verbally cut you," if you cross him. However; Samuel and his own father were adamant about not playing the role as a stereotype, but Samuel trusted the head writer and executive producer to do well by the character.
On November 10, 2014; it was reported that Samuel had been dropped to recurring status with the series.
On February 3, 2020; Soaps.com broke the news that Samuel would return to GH when the actor teased his return on social media. He returned on March 23, 2020.
On March 23, 2023; it is revealed Samuel will be returning later that month leading up to The Nurses' Ball. He returned on March 28, 2023 before being since replaced by James Patrick Stuart as Valentin Cassadine.
Samuel returned on January 10, 2024 before being since replaced by replaced by James Patrick Stuart as Valentin Cassadine once more before the character's disappearance on July 17 and later replaced by Carlo Rota as Jenz Sidwell on August 30.
Storylines[]
In 2018, Felix becomes the nurse for Mike Corbin who comes back to town and is suffering from Alzheimer's. Mike died in 2020.
On March 28, 2023; Felix talks with Chase and Brook Lynn about the upcoming Nurses' Ball two months after the death of former Chief at Staff Britt Westbourne and one month after The Hook's reign of terror was over as The Hook was identified as Heather Webber wanting to avenge her daughter Esme as well as the deaths of Gavin Crawford and Renee Laveque because Gavin was also Roz Venta's male counterpart.
