Caroline Leigh "Carly" Spencer is a fictional character on the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital. She is the daughter of the late attorney John Durant and Nurse Bobbie Spencer via one night stand.
Carly is known for her fierce loyalty and impulsive nature. The role gained prominence for its controversial pair-ups (most notably with Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan) and has been portrayed by numerous actresses.
Sarah Brown, who originated the role on April 5, 1996, portrayed Carly until 2001. Tamara Braun took over the role from 2001-2005. Following a brief stint by Jennifer Bransford, Laura Wright was cast in the role. Wright has portrayed Carly since November 2005, making her portrayal the longest by a significant margin.
